Bounty App is a unique mobile app that rewards you every time you visit a restaurant or a mall. For every rupee you spend, you earn points and rewards, which can be redeemed into e-commerce vouchers, recharge coupons and shopping gift cards.
Founded by Satish Medapati, Bounty App is a win-win situation for both consumers and businesses i.e. providing spam-free personalized digital platform for consumers to get rewards without hassles and, on the other hand, allowing businesses to acquire, retain and manage their customers.
You can download their Android app from Google PlayStore. After having installed on your mobile, whenever you walk into their 4200+ partnered restaurants and shopping malls, it will alert you to check in. Once you are done, you will be rewarded with points instantly. You need a minimum of 50 points to redeem rewards and you will even get 50 points for each referral. One of the best features of Bounty App is that it works even without internet and GPS.
Satish says, “The idea behind this initiative and source of inspiration is – how knowing and understanding a simple everyday activity like eating or a weekly activity of visiting a mall or taking a cab can be so much more powerful in driving consumer experience that also results in businesses targeting with a context instead of spamming the consumer with offers/discounts . Being from an analytics and data sciences background, this problem of mapping offline consumer behavior driving value to consumers and businesses without friction on either side and executing it seamlessly has excited us and thus bounty was born.”
Satish has more than 11 years of rich experience working across the globe. He worked in many domains such as coated steel, credit risk modeling, analytics, consulting, banking & service delivery before becoming an entrepreneur. He is passionate about solving problems that are integral to consumers by using mobile and data sciences.
Anita heads the technology division and has 18 years of experience in building and managing large-scale IT projects. Sandeep manages partnerships and alliances while Amitesh looks after operations and customer service. They have a team of 8 full-time employees, 3 part-time employees, and few interns.
He says, “Our revenues are driven by the need of offline businesses to acquire, engage and retain their consumer base. The single most problem for any offline business is to get footfalls. If that’s so, then why not reward people for just walking into your store? They would love to if only they knew who walked in. That’s where we come in. Think about us like us a digital interface for a physical location in the real world.”
Speaking about the challenges working in this domain, he says, “One of the major problems in a business such as ours is that you need to capture both ends of the chain simultaneously. That is, we need merchants onboard to get users, and users onboard to involve merchants. What we have learned from our experience is that managing the merchant side or seller side is most critical in our business. You need to sell to a few people without anything and then start consumer acquisition. Slowly the tempo builds on both sides as you grow up.”
He further adds, “Today we have about 4200+ partner places where people can get rewarded for just walking in, tens of thousands of users and 100+ gift voucher options ranging from Flipkart, Amazon, BookMyShow, mobile recharge etc.”
Currently, Bounty App can be used in only three cities – Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. However, they are planning to expand to new cities in the coming months. They are also planning to roll out their iOS version very soon.
