Flatchat, a mobile only app that helps students and bachelors in finding suitable accommodation and flatmates based on their location and requirement has raised $2.5 Mn from CommonFloor.com, which is claimed to be India’s largest real-estate listings portal.
Flatchat was launched by Gaurav Munjal and Hemesh Singh six months back, which was successor of Flat.to, which was also acquired by CommonFloor.com. Flatchat is a broker-free platform, which connects students with the flat owners or occupants.
To get started, all you need is a Facebook profile to login and create a simple profile. Once any person posts his or her requirement, Flatchat will instantly show matches and he or she can chat with their potential flatmates.
Currently, Flatmate has 40 employees and with the raised capital, the company wants to hire the best product and engineering talent to strengthen their product team.
Flatchat services are currently available in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad. They are also planning to expand to other cities, which have higher concentration of student and bachelors.
Presently, it has 50,000+ users across both Android and iOS platforms. More than 350,000 messages were exchanged on the platform last month. They are experiencing significant growth every month.
